January 14, 2007

This weekend, i printed a 2/1 invitation for my own 40th birthday party which will be on February 11th.

I had some fun with the front panel, which uses some wood type, numbers 40, printed at right angles to each other, over top of each other in two colours – yellow and orange.

The effect is quite nice, and a bit edgy. It looks old, but the colours lend a modern feel.

I will post pictures of it tuesday evening.

Otherwise, it was a quiet weekend, the weather, though cool, has brought us zero snow yet this year. It’s kind of strange.

My next project will be a small (6 x 9) broadsheet. I am going to use some text with a nature/zen type feel. The specific text will be Henry David Thoreau’s. It’s a lovely bit, talks about lakes being the eyes of the earth.

I will document further as i work through it.

I am taking part in the following:

FOCUS FAIR

The Focus Fair is moving to the front space of the Peterborough Arts Umbrella once a month from here on in. The PAU is located at 378 Aylmer Street North, which is just south of Hunter Street. This is an exciting location for us because, it is right downtown and very accessible.

We are planning to hold the shows on the last Sunday of every month from 10am to 4pm. The first two months are booked already. Also, just for the first show, to really get them going we will be doing an opening the evening before. Therefore, the date of the first one is Saturday February 24th (6ish until 9ish)and Sunday February 25th (10am until 4pm). The second is set for Sunday March 25th.
